“We are both a builder and a bank” Fran Normann, Executive Director of Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, told the members of the Wilton Rotary Club at a recent meeting at Marly’s Restaurant. Normann talked about the Habitat model of building homes for underserved first-time home buyers and underwriting a 0% Habitat-held mortgage to make homeownership a reality. Housatonic Habitat, founded in Ridgefield in 1991, is currently building two homes in New Milford.
In addition to its construction, Normann also provided an overview of the affiliates other projects including its Brush with Kindness repair services and its ReStore, a 10,000 Sq. Ft. thrift warehouse. Wilton is part of the Housatonic Habitat service area and Habitat has received financial support from the town’s religious community.
