Housatonic Habitat for Humanity recently elected Donna Chillemi of Brookfield to its Board of Directors. Chillemi is Assistant Vice President and Underwriting Manager for Fairfield County Bank in its Ridgefield Operations.
Previously, Chillemi served on the Board of Directors and served as Volunteer Board Chair for Danbury Youth Services, until 2007. Danbury Youth Services has a 45-year commitment of service to youth and their families from the Greater Danbury Area, including Ridgefield, Redding, Newtown, Bethel, New Fairfield, Brookfield, Sherman, and New Milford. The agency provides professional counseling and family support services.
Chillemi has been a Brookfield native since 1988. She attended local schools including WCSU and has been involved in many area organizations, including DSABC and Girl Scouts of America. Since joining Housatonic Habitat in 2017, she has volunteered on the Family Partnership Committee, which includes homeowner mentoring and new homeowner recruitment and selection.
Housatonic Habitat for Humanity focuses on making a meaningful difference in the lives of qualified working families by promoting financial stability and self-sufficiency through ownership of affordable homes. Households often consist of those who have limited assets and who have jobs that also have income caps.
By providing decent, affordable, safe housing to qualified regional families, Housatonic Habitat contributes to community revitalization in the greater Danbury region by creating homes that can transform a street and neighborhood and add value to the community. This process transitions families from renters to homeowners who pay taxes; it helps stabilize families; and enables households to build equity for their future.
