Rev. Jim Wheeler Elected to Habitat Board of Directors

Rev. Jim Wheeler joins Housatonic Habitat Board of Directors

The Rev. James R. Wheeler, D. Min., was recently elected to the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors.  He joined Housatonic Habitat as the volunteer Interfaith Coordinator earlier this year.

Rev. Wheeler recently retired from parish ministry after a 39-year career.  For more than a decade he was Senior Pastor of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Stamford.  Both in Stamford and in previous parishes, Rev. Wheeler has been an active volunteer with Habitat, helping in construction, house repair and fundraising.  He has begun his latest ministry by reaching out to local parishes to strengthen their relationship with Housatonic Habitat.  His goal is to draw volunteers from the regional Interfaith community to work together to build workforce homes for first-time homebuyers.

“Rev. Wheeler is enthusiastic in building communities,” said Fran Normann, Executive Director of Housatonic Habitat for Humanity.  “We are pleased that he has worked with the Interfaith community and has begun to create programs and activities that align with our mission of building work-force housing in the greater Danbury region.”
