Home repairs for low-income seniors

A Brush with Kindness is Housatonic Habitat's low-cost home repair and painting services.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be 60 years or older; except if Social Security Disabled (SSDI);

Must be the homeowner. This program is not for renters;

Income level should not exceed $2,600 per month;

Excluding home equity, asset level cannot exceed $50,000;

Home must be in one of the following CT towns: Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Canaan, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Weston, Wilton

Smoke alarms (install / battery replacement)

Phone outlet repair

Cabinet repair

Grab bars installed

Toilet riser installation

Window screens fixed

Yard cleanup

Vinyl flooring repaired

Drapes/ Blinds replace / install

Drywall repair

Plaster/ stucco repair

Lighting fixture repair/improve

Interior painting

Winterize/ Insulate

Garage Door fix

Stairs/Rails fixed

Screen door fix/replace

Door latches repair

Household chores such as laundry, cleaning or dusting, buying groceries, etc.

Roofing repair / replace
