Become a volunteer

and live the mission.

Building on strength, Housatonic Habitat entered a new chapter in its proud 30-year history.

Since we were first established in 1991, we have put people, processes and procedures in place that have formed a solid foundation for our work ahead. Our core team enables us to open doors for a bright future.

Today’s Board of Directors together with our grass-roots committee structure composed of dedicated volunteers, allow us to move ahead … to grow and prosper. Above all, we are grateful for our committed volunteers who are our mainstay. They live the mission.

They hang drywall.
They drive trucks.
They move tables and chairs.
They bake.
They do crafts.
They give resources, time, and talents that are our life blood.

Whether you are a new volunteer or have been around for a while, it’s always good to refresh your memory on current safety practices when on a Habitat build site or an Aging in Place project.

Each gift of time, talent, and treasures is unique and creates sustainable change when combined with our vision of safe and affordable housing.

Here’s how you can make a difference:

Construction

We welcome individuals, volunteer groups, and members of the trades to join our community of builders. No experience necessary … no job too small.

There is always a way to help at the work site.

ReStore

Are you a treasure hunter? Do you like to hunt? Price? Dust or display? We have a job for you.

Our 10,000 square-foot resale store is part thrift warehouse and part eclectic boutique. It’s always fun and always a critical revenue stream which supports our mission.

Office

Beyond the hammer, our office staff keeps us humming by providing the behind-the-scenes jobs that keep us operating.

Volunteer your skills or develop new ones. We are an active group of people who like giving back so others have a decent place to live.
