What We Do
What will we build today?
Homeownership is more than the homes we build. Homeownership provides financial benefits that impacts and contributes to the quality of life in greater Danbury. Throughout the region affordable housing attracts families and individuals, who will locate, work in, invest in and contribute to the economic and civic life of our communities. Habitat has a solution to stimulate this economic vitality: Give people a chance to live in simple, decent homes they can afford – and sustain. We provide affordable homes built by volunteers with materials gifted by local businesses. We provide an interest-free mortgage for those working families who qualify.
We thank our many partners who help in our mission. Working together we’ve gone beyond the hammer.
Today our programs include:
A construction firm that stimulates the local economy by working with local trades and businesses.
A mortgage lender that sells homes to working families with limited incomes who would not qualify for a traditional mortgage.
Social Services Agency
A social services agency that teaches families how to better leverage their finances.
Force for Change
A force for change which mobilizes individuals, organizations and corporations to transform undesirable properties into affordable homes that change lives and revitalize neighborhoods.
Home Improvement Thrift Store
ReStore – open to all which recycles, reuses and re-purposes items that might fill a landfill. It is also the lowest cost alternative for home improvement.
Low-cost Home Repair Program
A Brush with Kindness – which provides a low-cost alternative to home repairs and preventive maintenance to homeowners.
