Housatonic Habitat for Humanity (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a locally operated and self-funded affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). We are an independent nonprofit organization focused on building safe and affordable housing exclusively in the following towns in Western Connecticut:

Washington, New Milford, Roxbury, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Sherman, New Fairfield, Danbury, Bethel, Redding, Ridgefield, Weston, Wilton, and New Canaan.
We do not operate outside of this service area and do not provide international services.

While we collaborate with HFHI and follow shared values and principles, we are solely responsible for our operations, programs, and fundraising. Some data collected through our website may be shared with or collected by HFHI for coordination purposes. Both organizations are committed to protecting your privacy.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

  • With Habitat for Humanity International when coordination is required for mission-related purposes, such as donation or volunteer tracking.  

  • With trusted third-party providers who help us operate our website and services — including donation processing, email communication, event registration, and data management.

    For example, we use Giveffect as our secure customer relationship management (CRM) system to organize donor and volunteer information. Giveffect complies with industry security standards to protect your data.

  • As required by law, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

Our website may also contain links to external websites we do not control. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those third-party sites.

5. Donations and Payment Processing

All donation transactions are securely processed. If you donate through a third-party processor (Stipe) or habitat.org, your information may be shared with both HFHI and Housatonic Habitat to ensure proper acknowledgment and use of funds. We do not store full payment details on our local servers.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. While no system is completely secure, we take privacy and security seriously.

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If such data is discovered, we will promptly delete it.

8. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18, except in the context of supervised volunteer participation. Any minor under 18 who engages with our organization must do so with direct supervision by a legal guardian or with written permission from their legal guardian for a designated adult to supervise them.

If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a minor outside of these approved circumstances, we will promptly delete the information.
