Aging in Place

Home repairs and ADA assistance for Seniors and Veterans on a fixed income.

Aging in Place supports seniors and veterans by allowing them to continue to live with dignity and independence in their own home. This program is a volunteer based service that offers a free home safety assessment and no cost ADA safety modifications. For the complete list of the modifications we do refer to the column on the right.

Eligibility Requirements for Applicants:

  • Must be 60 Years or older, or ability challenged.
  • Must be the homeowner. Renters are not eligible to participate in this program.
  • Verification of residence (i.e.: water bill, light bill, etc.)*
  • Must provide proof of total household income which includes but is not limited to any income from pensions, 401k’s, social security, SSI, Medicaid, HUSKY in the form of two most recent bank statements, latest tax return.*
  • If you or anyone in your household are currently employed, please provide two most recent pay stubs for each household member employed.*
  • Excluding home equity, total household income or asset level cannot exceed $6,000/month.
  • Must provide copy of current homeowner’s insurance declaration pages.<*/li>
  • Home must be located in one of the following CT towns:  Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, New Canaan, New Fairfield, New Milford, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Sherman, Washington, Wilton and Weston.

*Before submitting proof of income, residence and homeowners insurance, make sure to black out any sensitive information such as account numbers, social security numbers and account numbers.
